Brentford have today signed 22 year old Icelandic international midfielder Oli Skulason on a two year contract, after he was released by Arsenal.

SMS Subscribers heard this news first.

Oli spent the last four seasons at Highbury, playing once for the first team in a Carling Cup match versus Wolves in December 2003, a match that the Gunners won 5-1.  He has also captained the Icelandic U21 team as well as representing his country at full international level.

In a press conference at Griffin Park on Wednesday afternoon, Oli said

" I look at this as a very important move for my career, a step up from reserve football, and knowing that Martin had been interested in signing me for a while was a huge compliment for me. You always need to improve, and for me, I need to prove that I'm a league player, and prove Martin right, in that I'm the right player for this club. "
