The Football Association and Brentford FC are proud to announce that Griffin Park will host the 2005 FA Nationwide Women's Premier League Cup Final on Sunday 6th March 2005 [kick-off 12.15pm].
The first F.A. Final of the season will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and sees a re-match of last season's FA Women's Cup Final, with Charlton Athletic looking for revenge against Arsenal.
Current F.A. Nationwide Premier League Cup holders Charlton Athletic, who sit second in the Premier League, will be hoping to retain their title while Arsenal will be looking to avenge the disappointment of losing to Fulham in the 2003 Final. Both teams hope the Premier League Cup will be the first of several pieces of silverware this season as both teams are chasing the treble of The FA Nationwide Premier League, The FA Nationwide Premier League Cup and The FA Women's Cup. Arsenal also will be hoping to lift a fourth trophy this season - the UEFA Women's Cup - having reached the semi final stage.
Peter Hough, Chairman of The FA Nationwide Premier League, said: "We are delighted that The FA Nationwide Premier League Cup Final will be held at Brentford's Griffin Park. This Final will be played by two top teams in the Premier League, so it promises to be a fantastic game of football. I hope that the players, officials and supporters of both clubs, as well as Brentford fans, enjoy a fantastic occasion."
Roy King, General Manager of Brentford FC, added: "We are delighted to have been asked to host this prestigious fixture at Griffin Park by The Football Association. Brentford is a 'Community Football Club' and we are proud of the recent achievements of our own Women's Football Team. We hope that as many of our supporters as possible turn out to support this fixture and the chance to see the stars of the women's game."
