With relegation finally confirmed the Board of Brentford have decided that the Club needs a new football management team for next season and, as such, Scott Fitzgerald and Alan Reeves have today left the Club.

Chairman Greg Dyke said today "the best thing we can say about this season is that it is now effectively over and we are sorry it has been such a disaster. The entire focus now is to rebuild for next season, thus giving us the best opportunity to bounce straight back into League 1. It is encouraging that all four clubs relegated from League 1 last season are contenders for promotion this year. Hopefully we can match their performance next season.

"We plan to appoint a new manager in the very near future and meanwhile the Head of Youth Development, Barry Quin, will be the caretaker manager, although he will not be a candidate for the job full time.

"As a Board we would like to thank the fans who have stayed loyal to Brentford at such a difficult time, and in particular thank those who contributed to the Fighting Chance appeal. We only wish it had worked and kept us in League 1."
